Chiral-Separations.com supplies high-quality, individually tested, pre-conditioned ready-to-use capillary GC columns for enantioselective gas chromatography (chiral gas chromatography), along with method development services and full customer support in all aspects related to chiral GC.

Chiral-separations.com originates from the research group of one of the main inventors of enantioselective gas chromatography using modified cyclodextrins, Prof. Wilfried A. König, University of Hamburg. Thus, we have personal long-term expertise in the area of chirality and enantioseparations.

  • State-of-the-art column technology!
Our proprietary TwinGuard system offers chiral GC columns with integrated pre- and post-columns, significantly increasing the life-time and easy of handling.
  • Not sure which column to order?
We will give free advice based on our long-term experience and large database of applications. Please do not hesitate to contact our support! Read more!
  • Would you like to outsource method development?
You may submit your compound of interest and we return a ready-to-use chiral GC method! We also optimise existing chiral methods with regards to stationary phase, temperature program and column length with targets like best separation or minimal analysis time.

Applications in essential oils, pharmaceuticals and biosynthesis

Cyclodextrins are extraordinary stationary phases, featuring not only outstanding selectivity towards enantiomers but also excellent separation capabilities for difficult resolutions of non-chiral compounds like closely related isomers, diastereomers and even isotopomers.

Enantioselective GC is a valuable and established tool in essential oil analysis. Important areas of application are:

  • proof of authenticity
  • detection of adulterations
  • determination of provenance
  • quality control and pharmacopoeia requirements

Further highly important and established areas of application of enantioselective gas chromatography are e.g.:

  • pharmaceuticals (proof of enantiomeric purity or determination of enantiomeric excess)
  • enantioselective synthesis and catalysis
  • biosynthetic studies
